The Trunk Tours Reminiscing Program offers a forum for participating seniors to share their life stories and to facilitate the process of “life review”. The objects included in each trunk tour provide a multi-sensory experience for participants and are especially useful for seniors with memory impairment. It is important to know that seniors are encouraged to pass around the objects, touch the objects, and to share the context in which the objects were used in their individual pasts. Some of the tours like “Momma’s Things”, “Wedding Memories” and “Night On The Town” allow for staff modeling of vintage gowns, dresses, uniforms and hats. This dimension of the program has the unique ability to bring seniors back to the most celebrated moments of their own lifetime.
